Choose Your Weapons: Helping Your Little Heroes Pick the Right Toothbrush and Toothpaste

Every superhero needs a super powerful weapon to fight off his or her enemies including your Little Hero. The battle against the dreaded Sugarbugs is a tough one but with the right weaponry and you by their side, your little ones can come out victorious every time. But what features should you be looking for in your child’s toothbrush and toothpaste?

The Perfect Toothbrush

The bristles on your child’s toothbrush should be soft to help prevent damage to their delicate gum tissue after repeated use. Additionally, your Little Hero’s main weapon should have the best functions to make the fight against the Sugarbugs an easy one. Choose a small toothbrush (three to four rows of bristles) for your little one, make sure it has a rounded head to make it easier to reach those difficult places and add a bit of comfort with a cushioned grip. Always remember to replace your Little Hero’s toothbrush every three months to prevent Sugarbugs, also known as bacteria, and other impurities from spreading.

The Right Toothpaste

Like a Hero with a sidekick, a good toothbrush should always be accompanied by the perfect toothpaste. Here’s what you should be looking for? First of all, always make sure to equip your Little Hero with fluoride toothpaste. Most toothpaste contains anywhere from 0.1% to 0.6% fluoride but make sure to stick with the smaller percentage in case your little one accidentally swallows some. Your children’s taste buds can be very picky, so make sure they like the taste you’ve helped them choose and, above all, always make sure it has the American Dental Association’s seal of approval.
